Hi, I joined UP Manchester in December month last year and I found it pretty effective. However this review is dedicated to my PT Stephen Jones at UP Manchester. I am grateful to him and owe my fitness progress on fat loss to him, I found he is professional yet kind, patient and understanding. His encouragement has given me the confidence that I needed to stick to my diet and training in this program. He was always there to support and guide me and very much reachable on cellphone. After ten weeks I am happy with my progress as body fat reduced from 24% to 12% and I feel assured that with his continued training guidance and diet program I would be able to achieve my goal to build great muscle mass and a perfect beach body. Cant wait to begin next phase in the journey to boost muscles (bulking). HUGE thanks to you Steve for everything!! Wish you great in your future.
What an incredible fitness journey the last 10 months has been. It has been an absolute pleasure to be surrounded by amazing, positive, inspirational, like-minded people, training / eating well and getting the most out of every day. Massive thank you to the brilliant Adam Bailey for all his advice, support, encouragement and friendship throughout. Hats off to him, it’s been a real team effort and I’ve loved every minute. Adam has helped me over achieve what I thought was possible and I highly recommend him, I couldn’t imagine reaching my fitness goals without him now. Adam has been on hand 24/7 not only in the gym during personal training sessions but also to offer nutrition and lifestyle advice. I never imagined it possible when I signed up for UP that 8 months later I would appear in the online edition of Men’s Health magazine. Huge thanks and acknowledgment to all at Ultimate Performance Manchester for creating such a positive, fun and inclusive atmosphere to train in. I also got involved with the Ultimate Performance Tough Mudder team! The impact the training / lifestyle choices has made to my health both physically and mentally has been life changing. For the first 6 months, I trained 3 times a week, injury free, helped me lose 24.6kg (3.8 stone) and bring my BF% from 28.2% to 11.6%. I’m delighted to write the review to 1/ document the change and encourage continued improvement and 2/ hopefully someone sees it who is in two minds whether to start training and doesn’t know where / how to begin. I can honestly say that the hardest part was not taking the leap sooner. If I can do it, so can you! You will get fitter, stronger, happier and love every minute! Go for it!
I signed up to this gym wanting to get better at my technique, form and to improve my overall fitness, kickstarting good habits. The PT I was assigned to was very thorough with the questions and really delved into my goals in our welcome session. They gave clear critique on my form and clearly explained why the workout was set up in each way, it was all really insightful and helpful! However the reason for my 2 star review is that during my welcome I had stated that I have a history of eating disorders and did not want to be weighed, photographed or track my calories, all of these are triggers for me and I worked hard to overcome my eating disorder but it was still quite fresh. I stated that my fitness journey was NOT about weight loss or how I looked but rather I how I felt. My first session I was forced to get on the scales, have my photos taken and told that I had to stick to a very strict diet and track it, these were all things I had told them I did not want to do to protect my own mental health. Upon my second session, I was put back on the scales and I was met with a disapproving reprimand for only having lost 2lbs. I was repeatedly told off for not tracking food (I missed breakfast twice) and for having not lost enough weight. For me this was extremely damaging to my mental health and when I raised this I was met with a blank face 'why are you here then?'. I felt totally ignored in what I wanted my own fitness journey to be. I left quite quickly after. For a company that labels itself to be the world leading personal trainers, I think this is appalling behaviour. I will admit they are perhaps world experts at weight loss, but this is not how I would expect any personal trainer to behave, especially one that charges so much!
Training at UP has been an amazing experience. Through working with Noel, I’ve been able to achieve a total transformation - both physically and mentally. In 6 months I’ve lost 15kg (70kg-55kg), whilst building a look and strength that I didn’t think was possible. I’ve also learned the critical importance of applying consistency and discipline to achieving goals, which I will continue to apply in all aspects of my life. Training at UP is unique - the facilities are the best and all the PTs have an incredible work ethic and commitment to their clients. If you commit to the process, you will definitely get results. It is thoroughly worth the investment and I’m excited to return in future to achieve bigger goals.
Joining UP was the best decision I’ve ever made and I wish I’d done it sooner. It’s not only helping me get my younger body back but it’s completely changed my lifestyle which was getting out of control. I’m only 11 weeks in but the difference already is unbelievable and I’m starting to feel confident again. I’ve never felt comfortable in other gyms but Joe always puts me at ease. He pushes me to reach goals that I never thought I was capable of and I can’t wait to continue my journey and see what we can achieve. Can’t recommend UP enough. They really are the best.
